Shabbat Nachamu Scholar In Residence – Yehoshua November, “Poetry and Parshanut”
Please join us for a poetry reading and talk by acclaimed poet Yehoshua November, during Kiddush following shacharit services (~12:30 pm) and again between mincha and maariv services (~6:30 pm) on Shabbat Nachamu.
Named in May by the Jewish Week as one of the “36 Under 36 Best and Brightest Jewish Innovators and Visionaries,” November is an acclaimed author, poet, writer and student of Hasidic thought. His debut poetry collection, God’s Optimism was a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize for poetry. He won the 2010 Best Poetry Book Award by Main Street Rag and was chosen finalist for the Autumn House Poetry Prize and Tampa Review Prize for Poetry.
Twice nominated for the Pushcart Prize and winner of the Bernice Slote Award, November’s work has appeared in numerous literary journals and Jewish publications including the Forward, Jewish Week, Zeek, Moment, NJ Record, NJ Jewish News, Midstream and Prairie Schooner, to name a few. He teaches writing at Rutgers University and Touro College.
