Four out of Five American Jews can trace their origins to the Lower East Side. Join us for a talk followed by a walking tour led by acclaimed scholar Dr. Elissa Sampson. You'll learn about the neighborhood's historic synagogues, old tenements, landsmanshaftn, and visit secret community gardens that tell a tale of the LES's evolution. Bring your walking shoes! The talk will run from 1-1:30PM, with the walking tour from 1:30-2:30PM (if it rains, we'll spend more time inside). This event is free and open to the public.
