Tour of Jewish Harlem, Sunday, June 25

Register now for a walking tour of Jewish Harlem on Sunday morning, June 25, at 11:00am.

In 1900, 177,000 Jews lived in Harlem. There are few physical vestiges remaining of that vibrant period of Jewish American settlement, but careful observation, a willing imagination and accompanying narrative will evoke this past community.

Former synagogues, such as Ohab Zedek - pulpit of Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt - and the Commandment Keepers, a black congregation, will be visited as well as residences of famous Jewish personalities. Additionally, tour educator Barry Feldman will discuss general Harlem history, architecture and recent developments in the area.

This is a moderate walking tour, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. We suggest comfortable shoes and a bottle of water. Suggested donation per person: $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Registration closes on June 20th.  For more information and registration, please click here.

Urgent Repairs Briefing on June 27 at 7pm

After several years of talking about it, several fundraising campaigns, and a lot of generosity on the part of our members, friends, and the NY Landmarks Conservancy, we are finally going to be doing the most urgent repairs to our building. Thank you to all who donated to make this possible!

In a few weeks, work will begin to repair the back wall, roof, and fire escape of the shul. Find out what this will entail, how it will affect shul operations, and all the other gritty details at an informational meeting on Wednesday, June 27, at 7pm at the shul. Members of the Urgent Repairs Committee will be on hand to give an update and to answer your questions. Please join us!

Thank you to Elissa Sampson, Raffi Abelson, Jessica Spector, Jeff Katz and Rivky Friedman for their efforts in moving this project forward.

Volunteering at Stanton

One of the many strengths of our shul is the variety and multiple talents and abilities of our congregants. It takes a lot to run our shul and our programming, and we can probably use your help. Are you a tech guru, web design aficionado, or social media wiz? A master event planner, fundraiser, or program coordinator? An accountant, lawyer, or investment professional? A trained carpenter, electrician, or contractor? If you have any of these or other skills, professional or amateur, that you'd like to contribute to Stanton, speak to Rabbi Bodner, Rivky Friedman, or another member of the board and let's think about how we can help make Stanton flourish together.

Planned Giving at Stanton

Looking for a way to give back to Stanton, not right now, but maybe at some point in the future? Consider planning a long-term gift to the shul. We encourage anyone interested in discussing various ways to plan a gift now that will be given in the future to contact Board members Michael Gordon or Rivky Friedman, or Rabbi Bodner. There are many ways to go about planned giving and we are happy to discuss the various options that might work for you.
