Year-End Giving: FINAL APPEAL
(StantonKIDS Matching Opportunity Extended!)

We know at this time of year you get a lot of emails asking for contributions to worthwhile organizations. This is our final appeal: Please give generously to Stanton in your year-end giving, knowing that your contributions will directly fund the community that serves YOU. Every cent you donate goes toward running the shul!

And, now, when you earmark your gift for StantonKIDS, it will be DOUBLED up to $1200, thanks to a generous matching donor!

If you are getting this email, it means at some point you have taken part in our prayer services, community events, kids programming, women's tefillah, or weekly classes. Perhaps you have received pastoral services from Rabbi Aviad Bodner, or asked halachic questions about ritual purity from Yoetzet Halacha Ilana Gadish. Maybe you've never been to Stanton but you care about someone who loves the shul. Or you've heard about our warm and welcoming community and our commitment to an inclusive Orthodox Judaism, and you want to be supportive of the work we do. Whatever your affiliation with Stanton, we appreciate your support and need your financial contributions to help us keep going into 2017 and beyond.

Membership dues, while important, cover only a small portion of our operating costs, and we make our services and programs free whenever possible. We rely on your generosity to make up the difference and to ensure the financial health of the Stanton Street Shul. We are hoping to raise $18,000 before the end of the year to make sure we cover our operating budget.  Please show your support for our warm and welcoming community by giving generously to our year-end campaign.

Click here to make a donation now! Or send a check to Stanton Street Shul, P.O. Box 1008, New York, NY 10002, and note "Year-End campaign" on the check.

Thank you for your generosity and for all you do, collectively and individually, to make Stanton the special place that it is.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It...

A few months ago, many of our members filled out a survey asking what they feel are the most important values of our Shul. This was valuable input as we prepare to write a Mission Statement for our congregation. Now we'd like to convene a small group of members to meet in person and provide more in-depth feedback about the mission of the Stanton Street Shul. If you are interested in participating in this group, please email Laura Weisblatt at laurarweisblatt@gmail.com.

StantonKIDS Tu B'Shvat Program on January 21

Children of all ages are invited to our next StantonKIDS program on Shabbat morning, January 21, at 10:30am. Learn about the holiday of Tu B'shvat, the New Year for Trees, with a kids' prayer service, songs, games, and snacks! This month's StantonKIDS program is generously sponsored by Jon and Liz Miller.

For more info, to find out about sponsorship opportunities, and to rsvp, email kids@stantonstshul.com.

Save the Date: Annual Cholent Cookoff on Feb 24

Who makes the best cholent? On Friday night, February 24, you get to throw your beans into the ring and compete for the title of best cholent maker on the Lower East Side. Or, if cooking with crockpots isn't your thing, you get to taste the entries and decide. Save the date and stay tuned for more info!

Winter Davening Times: Kabbalat Shabbat at 5:20pm (and Learning Before That), Shabbat Afternoon Mincha at 12:30pm

Now that we've changed the clocks, sundown is coming much earlier. But who wants to eat dinner at 5:00pm? For those who prefer to daven on the later side, we're holding Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv at 5:20pm every Friday night through the Winter months. And if you're looking for something to do between candle lighting and services, how about joining Rabbi Bodner to learn gemara? Class will meet every Friday starting about 10 minutes after candle lighting.

On Shabbat morning, stay for kiddush at noon, followed by mincha at 12:30pm.

Volunteering at Stanton

One of the many strengths of our shul is the variety and multiple talents and abilities of our congregants. It takes a lot to run our shul and our programming, and we can probably use your help. Are you a tech guru, web design aficionado, or social media wiz? A master event planner, fundraiser, or program coordinator? An accountant, lawyer, or investment professional? A trained carpenter, electrician, or contractor? If you have any of these or other skills, professional or amateur, that you'd like to contribute to Stanton, speak to Rabbi Bodner, Rivky Friedman, or another member of the board and let's think about how we can help make Stanton flourish together.

Planned Giving at Stanton

Looking for a way to give back to Stanton, not right now, but maybe at some point in the future? Consider planning a long-term gift to the shul. We encourage anyone interested in discussing various ways to plan a gift now that will be given in the future to contact Board members Michael Gordon or Rivky Friedman, or Rabbi Bodner. There are many ways to go about planned giving and we are happy to discuss the various options that might work for you.
