Dear friends,
As we continue to celebrate the festival of Sukkos and look forward to Shabbos Chol HaMo’ed, I want to express hopeful joy at the news of an agreement to release all remaining hostages over the next few days. So much is still unknown, and there is undoubtedly a long road ahead, but the promise that real individuals who have been held in darkness for two years will finally be returned to the embrace of their loved ones is a source of hope and celebration. We have been praying for the safety and release of these individuals every week and we await their return with bated breath. With hope for a better world, I pray that everyone makes it home safely and that this is a step forward into a future of dignity and peace.
Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Birkeland
