Special Class - Women's Megilah Reading: Monday @ 7:00pm March 18 - With Rabbi Bodner

Only recently has the question of women reading megillah for groups of women (or men) on Purim become a practical one. In this class, we will explore the halachic sources of the issue. Join us for this special class taught by the rabbi of the Stanton Street Shul, Rabbi Aviad Bodner. Next Shabbat - Yahrtzeit Kiddush for Victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, Shabbat Morning, March 23

We invite you to remember with us all those who perished in the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and honor their memory in the Lower East Side with a traditional kiddush to mark the anniversary of their passing (sponsored by Dr. Elissa Sampson and Prof. Jonathan Boyarin.) Their ongoing struggle to earn a living as poor immigrants reminds us of the necessity of defending immigrant rights, and the rights of poor people today.

Singer Song-Writer Night, Sunday, April 7

Join us for a night of acoustic music by a few members of the synagogue and a few of their friends on the new balcony of our shul. This evening will feature original songs written and sung by the artists listed.  The format will include stories of the creative process and songs in the works. Come by to support the songwriters and the synagogue. More details coming soon.
