Community News
The Pre-Purim Costume Gala honoring Jeff Katz on March 17 proved to be a wild success. Our narrow little Shul is, it turns out, a dazzling party venue. The costumes were elegant, witty, irreverent and entertaining. First prize went to Chavie Sharfman and Avraham Sosa as Marilyn and Elvis. Thanks to all who love Jeff, we raised a record sum. Thank you to Margie Segal, Malka Percal, Jessica Spector, Paul Ruffer, Risa Gerstein and the entire gala committee. Kudos also to musicians Alicia Svigals Trio and our own Leslie Levinson. Thanks to all who helped make the Gala such a success. See the scroll of honor here and the online journal here. See pictures below.

This Shabbat - Yahrtzeit Kiddush for Victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, Shabbat Morning, March 23
We invite you to remember with us all those who perished in the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and honor their memory in the Lower East Side with a traditional kiddush to mark the anniversary of their passing (sponsored by Dr. Elissa Sampson and Prof. Jonathan Boyarin.) Their ongoing struggle to earn a living as poor immigrants reminds us of the necessity of defending immigrant rights, and the rights of poor people today.
