Mothers' Day at the Stanton Street Shul

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12, and the Stanton Street Shul is beginning a new tradition to honor our mothers, grandmothers, wives and daugthers by listing their names on a Mother’s Day Scroll of Honor. Be part of this special commemoration by adding your name and the names of your favorite female relatives to the list. Each name is $10 and will be read aloud on Shabbat Kedoshim, the day before Mother’s Day. Donate by clicking here.

This Shabbat - StantonKIDS Program - Shabbat, May 4th @ 10:30 am

Join us for our StantonKIDS Shabbat! The class will be on Shabbat morning (Saturday, May 4th) from 10:30am-12pm. This program is sponsored by Rebecca and David Friedman in honor of Sonya's 3rd birthday. To sponsor a future kids program, contact us at kids@stantonstshul.com

Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebrations (Israel's Independence Day) - Wednesday Night and Thursday Morning (May 8-9)

 

Join on Wednesday night (May 8th) as the Stanton Street Shul and the Sixth Street Community Synagogue communities will come together for a celebratory Tefillah for Israel's Independence Day at 7:30 pm, led by Rabbi Gavriel Bellino and Meir Shapiro. A light Israeli dinner to follow services (sponsors welcomed!)

 

Join us again on Thursday morning (May 9th, 7:00 am) for tefillat Shacharit with Hallel, followed by a light breakfast sponsored by Lindsey and Rabbi Aviad Bodner in honor of Aviad's birthday.

Through a Spiritual Lens - A New Photography Exhibit at the Stanton Street Shul - Opening May 16th @ 7:00 pm

The Stanton Street Shul is pleased to host Through a spiritual lens, an photography exhibit curated by David Wander. The show will be on view from May 16 until August 18.  All are invited to attend the show’s opening on Thursday, May 16, from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.

Women's Tefillah for Parashat Emor: May 18

All women are invited to participate in our Women's Tefilah and Torah reading for Parashat Emor, on Shabbat morning, May 18.

Services will begin at 9:30 am and will take place downstairs in the beit midrash. If you would like to layn, lead services, or give a d'var Torah, or if you have questions, send an email to women@stantonstshul.com.

StantonKids Lag B’Omer @ Siempre Verde Garden, Sunday, May 19th at 10:00 am

On Sunday, May 19th, from 10:00am-12pm, join us for some outdoor family fun with the StantonKIDS and Sixth Street Community Kinderlach!  We'll celebrate nature with activities at the Siempre Verde Garden right across the street from the Shul!  Bad weather? We'll be indoors at the Shul, and bring nature in with us. Click here for more info.

Women's Discussion Group - May 19, 2:00 pm

The next women's discussion group will be on Sunday, March 10th (11:00 am) @ the Shul. The topic of discussion - Humor & Health: Exploring both entities and the interaction between the two. The discussion will be facilitated by Brina Chu. Contact brinachu3@gmail.com for more details.

Active Shooter Training Program - Monday, May 20th at 6:30 pm

The NYPD Shield is countering terrorism through information sharing. This program is designed to provide the public with an awareness on how to respond in an active shooter situation. Monday, May 20th at 6:30 pm, Orenstein Pavillion, 15 Willett Street. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Stanton Street Shul Torah Ark Restoration - Matching Grant Opportunity

The The Victorian Society New York has granted the Stanton Street Shul $750 from its Margot Gayle Fund to help underwrite the repair/restoration of our Torah ark.

The monetary award will be presented on Monday, May 20, 2019, but must be matched by our members and friends.  Please respond generously so we can continue to improve the beauty and safety of our historic shul. Donate here.
