On Shabbat Nasso (June 14/15) we had the privilege of meeting and greeting Rabbi Shmuel Rosenberg, one of the candidates selected by the Stanton Search Committee for consideration as a potential new rabbi. Thanks to the many of you who joined us at shul on Friday evening, Shabbat morning, and Shabbat afternoon.

Stanton Street Shul Membership Meeting - June 30th

The Stanton Street Shul Annual Membership Meeting will take place on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Detailed information will be sent out to members later this month.

Shabbat with Rabbinic Candidate - Rabbi Ben Keil, July 12-13

Rabbi Ben Keil, is one of the impressive candidates we discovered through our search and has been invited to meet the Stanton community. This is an opportunity for our community to gain a sense of his personal, spiritual and leadership skills.

Rabbi Ben Keil has been learning at at the RIETS Israel Kollel for three years, and teaches Gemara at Yeshivat Orayta in the evenings.  He grew up in Northeast Philadelphia, and attended Boston University, where he and his wife Dana met.  Rabbi Keil spent two years teaching at the Breuer's Mesivta High School, a year running the youth department at Lincoln Square Synagogue, and two years as Executive Director of LSS before their family moved to Jerusalem to spend time learning.  The Keils, and their children Meir (5) Ashira (3) and Livia (1) are excited to return to New York City this summer, at which time Rabbi Keil will be fulfilling his residency requirements for semicha at RIETS. Rabbi Keil also holds private semicha from Rabbi Joseph Polak, the Av Beit Din of the Rabbinical Council of New England.

Starting this week - New Series of Classes with Rabbi Bodner at the Museum of Eldridge, Tuesday Mornings at 11:00 am beginning June 25

This four-part class examines Jewish practice, customs, and beliefs through the lens of Jewish law. Rabbi Bodner will introduce students to Jewish legal frameworks and the texts that support them, and the laws related to customs including diet, life cycle events, and other inter-personal affairs. Classes will take place at 12 Eldridge Street. $20 per session, $65 for four-session bundle. Discounted rate for Stanton Street Shul members. Contact hcoopersmith@eldridgestreet.org.

Next Shabbat - Women's Tefillah for Parashat Shlach: June 29 - Shabbat Kallah for Chavie Sharfman

All women are invited to participate in our Women'sTefilah and Torah reading for Parashat Shlach, on Shabbat morning, June 29 where we will be celebrating the Shabbat Kallah of Chavie Sharfman! Services will begin at 9:30 am and will take place downstairs in the beit midrash. If you would like to layn, lead services, or give a d'var Torah, or if you have questions, send an email to women@stantonstshul.com.
