Collecting Supplies for Jewish Community
in Havana

One of our members, Elan Kogutt, is collecting everyday medical supplies and household items for the Jewish community in Havana, Cuba. He is leading a trip of young professionals to Havana to interact with the Jewish Cuban community. The Patronado, or Jewish Community Center, is home to a JDC-supported pharmacy, computer center, library, and religious school. The pharmacy, in particular, is very dependent on donations as it is nearly impossible to source medical supplies in Cuba. Please look at the needs list below and consider gifting these items to our fellow Jews in need. There will be a box set aside at Stanton St. Shul from Thursday, Aug 24 - Sunday, Aug 27. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Drop off times at Stanton Street Shul on ground floor:

Friday, Aug 25: 9:00 - 10:00 am, 12:00 - 2:30 pm

Construction Has Begun (and People Are Noticing)!

Our Urgent Repairs Project is underway! When you come to shul this Shabbat, you may notice some temporary structures at the front of the shul sanctuary, near the aron. Otherwise, our use of the shul -- both the main sanctuary and the beit midrash -- should be unobstructed. The work will continue through the summer.

The shul has received press coverage about the construction, including in the Lo-Down and The New York Jewish Week

Thank you to the NY Landmarks Conservancy and to all who contributed to make these repairs possible. Thank you also to the Urgent Repairs Committee members -- Elissa Sampson, Raffi Abelson, Jessica Spector, Jeff Katz and Rivky Friedman -- for their efforts in moving this project forward.

Volunteering at Stanton

One of the many strengths of our shul is the variety and multiple talents and abilities of our congregants. It takes a lot to run our shul and our programming, and we can probably use your help. Are you a tech guru, web design aficionado, or social media wiz? A master event planner, fundraiser, or program coordinator? An accountant, lawyer, or investment professional? A trained carpenter, electrician, or contractor? If you have any of these or other skills, professional or amateur, that you'd like to contribute to Stanton, speak to Rabbi Bodner, Rivky Friedman, or another member of the board, and let's think about how we can help make Stanton flourish together.

Planned Giving at Stanton

Looking for a way to give back to Stanton, not right now, but maybe at some point in the future? Consider planning a long-term gift to the shul. We encourage anyone interested in discussing various ways to plan a gift now that will be given in the future to contact Board members Michael Gordon or Rivky Friedman, or Rabbi Bodner. There are many ways to go about planned giving and we are happy to discuss the various options that might work for you.
