Dear friends, Please join us as we embark on our first in-house Gala in five years! We will be installing Rabbi Benjamin Birkeland, honoring pillars of our shul - David & Rivky Friedman, and David & Aliza Deutsch - and presenting a Community Award to Leslie Levinson. When? Wednesday June 11, 2025 6pm - 9.30pm Where? 180 Stanton Street
We will be honoring: David and Rivky Friedman – David and Rivky have been backbones of our shul for many years. David is the Gabbai who does an amazing job at davening as well. His Sim Shalom can bring tears to one's eyes. Rivky is a former President of the Shul and an expert leiner in the Woman’s Tefillah Group. She is a comitted member, and supporter and is always generous with her time. David and Aliza Deutsch – David and Aliza are long-standing, generous members of our shul. David cheers us on with his limitless humor while Aliza, a morning Daf Yomi learner, teaches in the StantonKids program, and oversees the Woman’s Tefillah Group.
We will be presenting a Community Service Award to: Leslie Levinson has been a tireless educator for the StantonKIDS program, always coming up with new ideas for engaging children.
We will be installing: Rabbi Benjamin Birkeland – Rabbi Ben joined our shul, originally, as a devoted and learned member. For the past year, however, he has served as our Rabbi, leading the congregation with grace and compassion. Through prayer, study, and inspiration, Rabbi Birkeland has benefited our shul community immensely. His weekly class and D’vrei Torah are consistently thoughtful. We are grateful to be gifted with his presence. *An anonymous donor will provide up to $36,000 matching funds for this gala.
