This Shabbat - Talk and Historical Neighborhood Walking Tour of the Lower East Side - Dec 22

Join us for a talk followed by a walking tour of the Stanton Street Shul and the surrounding area led by Dr. Elissa Sampson for Yiddish New York. You'll learn about the neighborhood's historic synagogues, old tenements, landsmanshaftn, and visit a community garden that tells a tale of the LES's evolution. Bring your walking shoes! The talk will run from 1-1:30PM, with the walking tour from 1:30-2:30PM (if it rains, we'll spend more time inside). This event is free.

This Tuesday - Everything Might be Closed on December 25th... But Not the Stanton Street Shul!

New Advanced Class - Sugiyot in Even HaEzer with Rabbi Bodner, Monday Nights at 8:00 pm (Beginning January 7)

We are excited to announce that Rabbi Bodner will be teaching a new class on Monday nights: Halachic subjects in Even HaEzer (marriage laws), focusing on the Tur, Bet Yosef and Shulchan Aruch. These are the Simanim we will be focusing on:

Next StantonKIDS - Shabbat, January 12th @ 10:30 am

Join us for our next StantonKIDS class! The class will be on Shabbat Bo (Saturday, January 12th) from 10:30am-12pm. Don't forget to join us for a special StantonKids program led by RAB this Tuesday (Dec 25th) at 9:45 am.

The Stanton 11 Art show curated by David Wander - Opening January 13

The Stanton Street Shul is pleased to host The Stanton 11, an art show curated by David Wander. Eleven artists, each having a connection to the Shul, were asked to exhibit their work in the Shul’s newly renovated gallery. The artists work in oil, acrylic, pencil, collage, watercolor and mixed media.  The show will be on view from Jan 13 until March 13.  All are invited to attend the show’s opening on Sunday, January 13, from 5:30 until 8:00.

Women's Tefillah for Parashat Beshalach: January 19

All women are invited to participate in our Women's Tefilah and Torah reading for Parashat Beshalach, on Shabbat morning, January 19. We will be celebrating the Bat Mitzvah of Sierra Hanrahan! Mazal Tov!

Services will begin at 9:30 am and will take place downstairs in the beit midrash. If you would like to layn, lead services, or give a d'var Torah, or if you have questions, send an email to women@stantonstshul.com.

Passing On The Light: A Poetry Reading and Yiddish Singing Event for Auschwitz Liberation - Sunday, January 27, 6:00 pm

Come together at the historic Stanton Street Shul to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp. This special evening will feature writings and songs that shine light on the liberation aspect of this dark day and pass the light from an old generation to a new one, with performances by Iris Tillman, Julia Knobloch, and Lori Leifer. This event is dedicated to the memory of Mara Esther Popper z"l. For more information, click here.

Pre-Purim Costume Gala in honor of Jeff Katz

For the past couple of years, Jeff Katz has tirelessly worked his magic on our formerly tired 106 year old building, bringing it back to shining life. On March 17, Stanton members and friends will gather, in costume, at the Shul to honor Jeff. The funds we raise will finance current and future work on the Shul's sanctuary and balcony space. Save the Date for an amazing evening.
